Vatican II @ 50

Students had a surprisingly pleasant time at this year's Vatican II @ 50 Symposium, held on the Doheny Campus. Students from Ana Grande's class had a few things to share.

Attending the symposium of Vatican II @ 50 was an interesting and informative experience that I have encountered while being at the Mount. Much like the service of One Billion Rising, I went to this event not knowing what to expect but with an open mind, I was surprised at how much I learned from the speakers, the workshops, and others in attendance."

"What I learned about the Vatican II was that it was designed to assess the church's role in a rapidly changing world....Vatican II has impacted the church we attend today because our prayer should not just be a performance, but an active participation from each of us."

"As the symposium progressed, I began to understand how Vatican II was the most significant event in the modern era of the Catholic Church and how the Council was instrumental for the renewal in the self-understanding of the Church, its inner life and its relationship with other Christian denominations."

The Vatican II @ 50 Symposium Series will continue next year.
