Mount Department Ensembles

Ensembles are open to music majors, music minors, and all student enrolled at Mount Saint Mary's University.

Sing at the Mount

Any Mount student can join a choir for credit or as an extracurricular activity. Regardless of your background or level of experience, we have a choir for you!

Our Ensembles

Mount Chorus MUS 19/119 (0-1)
Rehearses Monday/Wednesday, 4:40 - 6:15 p.m.

The Mount Chorus is a larger mixed choir of approximately 25-30 voices. The Mount Chorus performs a diverse selection of music from many places and time periods. The ensemble performs once each semester in Mary Chapel as well as the Pompeian Room of the Doheny Mansion. They are excited to share an extra spring performance with the Trinity Chorus from San Antonio Texas.

Mount Singers MUS 21/121 (0-1)
Rehearses Tuesday, 4 - 5:30 p.m.

The Mount Singers are an auditioned* a capella ensemble. They perform with the Mount Chorus and are regularly called upon to sing for special Mount events as well as outside venues. Performances include early and modern a capella choral music from around the world. All Mount Singers are required to be members of the Mount Chorus.

*Auditions for Mount Singers are quick (10 minutes) and simple. The conductor will help guide you through a simple process and discuss any previous singing experience you may have. You don't need to prepare anything! Sign up for an audition time the first week of class. Sign up sheet posted on the door of H525

Orchestral Ensembles at the Mount

Any Mount student can join an orchestral ensemble for credit or as an extracurricular activity. For beginners and advanced players alike, the Mount Orchestra ensembles provide a valuable learning experience for all.

Rehearses Friday, 1 - 2:50 p.m.

The Mount Orchestra is open to any Mount student, faculty, or staff member as well as the larger university community. It provides an opportunity for members of the community to perform outstanding orchestral repertoire.

Chamber Ensemble MUS 23/123 (0-1)
Rehearses Friday, 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Chamber Ensemble is open to all Mount students with prior instrumental experience. It gives instrumentalists the opportunity to work on instrumental repertoire in small ensemble configurations...duo, trio, quartet, etc.
