Providing Quality Education


Our goal in the Department of Mathematics is to provide a quality education to all our students, where their critical thinking skills and logic are developed to each individual’s fullest potential.

It is our hope that each student of Mathematics at the Mount completes our program with the skills and knowledge necessary to achieve their respective goals and aspirations as contributing members of our society.

To that end, successful students of the Mathematics degree program will have the following characteristics laid out in the table below.

  • Students will know the fundamental facts, principles, and concepts of the discipline.
  • Students will be able to utilize appropriate technology and instruments to solve problems.
  • Students will be able to effectively employ technical materials in their coursework and research.
  • Students will be able to explain and apply the concepts of single and multivariable calculus.
The student will reason mathematically. 
  • Students will be able to distinguish between valid and invalid results.

  • Students will be able to construct and analyze proofs.
