AA Degree: Liberal Arts with an English Emphasis

Interested in reading, writing about, and engaging the great minds and spirits in literature? Then why not come to the Doheny Campus of Mount Saint Mary’s University to earn an Associate of Arts Degree (AA) before moving on to the Chalon campus to continue your study for a Bachelor of Arts Degree (BA) in English?

Do you see yourself in a career involving reading, writing, journalism, business, the law, and/or teaching? Then studying American, British, and World literature will prepare for any of these careers, as well as graduate study in a wide range of fields which require strong critical thinking skills.

At Doheny, you will be part of a vibrant intellectual community where you will take a series of reading, writing, and research-based courses which will improve your fundamental skills while preparing you for the in-depth study of American, British, and World Literature.

While studying for the AA Degree in Liberal Arts with an English Emphasis at Doheny, you will benefit from deep one-on-one relationships with your instructors while being provided opportunities to participate in Phi Beta Kappa, the two-year college honor society, and the Literary Society, which encourages you to see and experience the arts in your everyday life.

After transferring to Chalon to complete your BA Degree, you can emphasize traditional Literary Studies, Creative Writing, or Journalism/New Media. You can also double-major in business or another field such as pre-law, psychology, or Spanish. In addition, if you see yourself as a teacher of reading and writing, you can complete your BA degree with your teaching credential, readying yourself to enter the classroom as an instructor.

The world is yours when you do what you love by pursuing an AA in Liberal Arts Degree with and Emphasis in English and then a BA Degree in English!
