Liturgy & Prayer

Until public gatherings such as Mass are considered safe, in the interests of public health: All Masses and prayer gatherings at the Mount are temporarily suspended.

We continue to pray with and for one another, and look forward to seeing each other in person again.

In the Meantime, We Recommend:

Mass on Campus

aisle in church with red curtains at altar

Chalon Campus: 7pm Sunday

This mass occurs when the university is in session (August through May).

Our Sunday Mass includes blessing those who are bringing food to our homeless neighbors that evening, and often includes birthday blessings as well. After Mass, you have the option to gather for snacks and conversation on the chapel patio, or to remain in the chapel for candlelight and music. Our Sunday Mass priest is available after Mass for the Sacrament of Reconciliation (“Confession”).

Doheny students are welcome to take the “Sunday Mass Shuttle” from Doheny to Chalon, returning after Mass.

Doheny Campus: 12:05pm Weekend/Evening & Online College Sundays

(Once or twice a month, August through April)

This Mass is especially designed for WEOC students who are on campus for intensive coursework on Sundays, with little time in between classes. This 30 minute Mass allows them to gather and pray, and grab a bite to eat during their short lunchtime break.

Special All-University Masses

Mass of Welcome: We welcome all of our new Mount students, on the Sunday night in August just before Traditional Undergraduate classes begin.  In Chalon’s Mary Chapel.

Mass of the Holy Spirit: The university gathers to ask God’s blessing upon the new academic year, on the second Tuesday of September.  In the Carondelet Center Chapel, near the Chalon campus.

Alumnae Welcome Home Mass: We welcome our graduates home, with a special celebration of our Golden Grads, on an October Saturday.  In Chalon’s Mary Chapel.

Our Lady of Guadalupe/Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Mass: We gather early in the morning to honor Guadalupe, in procession, Mass, and a breakfast feast on December 12. On the Doheny campus.

Ash Wednesday: We observe the beginning of Lent with Mass and Prayer Services at various times, on both campuses.

Joseph’s Day: This special feast day of our Sisters of St. Joseph is celebrated with Mass on March 19, usually in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel on the Doheny campus.

Graduation Mass: We gather to pray for the blessing of all our graduates on the day before the Commencement ceremonies.  In the Carondelet Center Chapel, near the Chalon campus.
