Peer Wellness Advocates
The Peer Wellness Advocates are a group of students dedicated to improving health and well-being at the Mount. Peer Wellness Advocates are trained to provide education, referral, and health advocacy services to other students. They bring a student perspective to current health and social issues. Peer Wellness Advocates help develop and implement new wellness initiatives they recognize as critical to the Mount, and help others make healthy lifestyle choices through workshops, outreach, and one-on-one coaching.
Peer Wellness Advocates are supervised by the Department of Sports & Wellness. Advocates are NASPA Certified Peer Educators and receive a semester-long training in the Mount Wellness focus areas led by professionals on campus and guest speakers who are experts in health and wellness.
Peer Wellness Coaching
Peer Wellness Coaching is designed for students who want a partner in constructing a plan to make changes, set goals, find strengths, and improve resiliency, so that they can become the healthiest version of themselves. Students may find Peer Wellness Coaching beneficial because the Peer Wellness Advocates are students too! They recognize that students often feel the intensity of challenges in college and can use coaching for individualized support.
Peer wellness coaching is grounded among the four pillars of the Mount Wellness Movement: De-stress, Sleep Well, Move More, and Eat Green. Peer Wellness Advocates support students in realizing their own strengths and wellness goals.
