About Student Programming

Mission Statement

The Student Programming office offers dynamic co-curricular activities with the purpose of enriching student life and encouraging student involvement on campus. Our programs help students to feel welcomed and connected to the Mount Community while gaining exposure to Mount Saint Mary’s University traditions, social life, cultural expression, intellectual opportunities, and community events.

Core Values

We develop partnerships with faculty and other departments to maximize the campus life experience.

We seek to create an environment where all are welcomed, respected and appreciated.

Through involvement and interactions, we build intentional relationships to enhance the experience of being a member of the Mount community.

Welcome Week:  This special week at the start of the fall semester is dedicated to offering events that welcome freshmen to the Mount community, while giving continuing students a warm return to campus.

Thursday Theater:  Join us for free screenings of your favorite films!  Movies are shown in the Student Lounge twice a day, every Thursday – with popcorn provided. *Student I.D. with current semester sticker required for Thursday Theater admission.

Live Entertainment:  Show your Athenian spirit! We offer live entertainment events throughout the academic year to showcase talent among students, staff, and members of the local community. Our popular events include Fall Fair, Mount's Got Talent, Mardi Gras, and Spring Carnival.

Dine-N-Chat:  These events provide students the perfect opportunity to get to know a favorite faculty member or administrator outside of the office/classroom – with a free meal provided. Featured speakers share stories about their life, education, personal interests, research endeavors, travels or hobbies.

Commuter Events: Commuter students are celebrated at the Mount through our many commuter-specific events. Join us for Commuter Welcome Socials, Commuter Appreciation, and Commuter De-Stress Socials that occur multiple times a year to encourage commuter student involvement on campus.

Mount In The City:  Our most popular event series! Join us for Mount In The City events off campus that explore the rich urban cultural environment of Los Angeles – typically on Fridays or Saturdays. Students have the opportunity to participate in social activities, attend sporting events, watch live performances, and more.

Mount Weekender:  Once the school week is done, weekend programming brings the fun. Mount Weekender is an off-campus excursion that exposes students to environments in California that are outside of Los Angeles. During the month of March, students travel to Yosemite National Park for a weekend getaway to learn about environmental sustainability, gain an exposure/connection to nature, and participate in personal development activities.

MSMU Ticket Office:  Discount tickets to movie theaters and theme parks are available for students, staff and faculty. Movie tickets can be purchased in our Chalon office (Humanities 200A). Theme park tickets are available online through the MSMU Portal.
