Mount Saint Mary’s University has a culture of assessment.  This means

  • Community members share a common commitment to improving student learning and a common language to guide this work
  • Students know at the outset what their expected learning outcomes are for the course, the major or program, and the general studies curriculum.
  • Faculty and staff continually assess the nature and extent of student learning.
  • Lessons about student learning inform curricular, pedagogical, and administrative decisions.

  1. Students in SPR 60A will articulate identify how Catholic social teachings are “lived” by people every day. Students will be able to give examples of how Catholic Social Teachings impact their daily lives.

  2. Students in SPR 60A will be able to explain the complex set of relationships involved in social justice issues and can list practical methods for correcting distributive injustice.

  3. Students Ambassadors will be able to articulate what they are learning in their training experiences and various classroom settings. Students will make connections between their formal training/classroom learning and their field experiences through formal reflective meetings and in written reflection assignments.

  4. Through a school-based approach to tutoring/mentoring, Student Ambassadors will create written reflections, share their observations through group discussions and as a result of their work, measure and document the intellectual, social and emotional growth of the underserved youth they will tutor/mentor.
