Nursing Programs (ADN and BSN)

  • Associate Degree in Nursing Program (ADN)
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing Program (BSN - Traditional and Accelerated)

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

The Associate Degree in Nursing meets the standards for and has been approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, leading to a California Registered Nurse (RN) license.  Students who wish to practice in a state other than California may or may not have additional educational and/or non-educational requirements to complete prior to applying for the RN license. Current students may review the Associate Degree in Nursing state authorization and professional licensure webpage to determine whether this program meets the educational requirements in a specific state. MSMU would like to help our students navigate the licensure process. Contact the A.D.N office at (213) 477-2630 or via email at adn@msmu.edu to discuss the process of obtaining an RN license in a state outside of California. The A.D.N program is being discontinued and is not accepting new A.D.N students at this time.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Traditional and Accelerated)

The Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing meets the standards for and has been approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, leading to a California Registered Nurse (RN) license.  Students who wish to practice in a state other than California may or may not have additional educational and/or non-educational requirements to complete prior to applying for the RN license. Other Important Notes

MSMU is working to gather the research to determine whether the California Board of Registered Nursing’s educational requirements meet those of other state boards. There may be additional non-educational requirements, such as a Jurisprudence exam, students may or may not need to fulfill in order to obtain a license in a state outside of California. MSMU is committed to assisting prospective and current students with navigating these requirements in any state. Contact the Office of the Provost at provostoffice@msmu.edu to speak with a representative who will help guide you through licensure requirements in any given state or U.S. territory.
