Scholarships in 2018
AFFORDABLE, EXCELLENT EDUCATION
A private university education can be a very economical choice. Generous scholarship and financial aid programs make Mount Saint Mary’s University an affordable option. And consider this—most Mount students graduate in four years. It oftentimes takes six or seven years in a public system. That means fewer years of paying tuition and more years of earning a salary!
ACADEMIC MERIT AWARDS
INCOMING FIRST-YEAR STUDENTs
President’s, Carondelet, and Provost Awards: Awarded to academically talented, incoming first-year students, the value of these scholarships ranges from $13,000 to full tuition per year. The scholarships are renewable when a competitive academic grade point average is maintained. (Recipients are selected based on a combination of high school course pattern and GPA, test scores, service and leadership roles; these include both on-campus and in the community.) No separate application is necessary for these awards, aside from your Application for Admission.
INCOMING TRANSFER STUDENTS
The Dean’s Transfer Award: This award is given to academically talented students with a minimum of 24 transferable units and at least a 3.0 GPA. The scholarship ranges from $5,000 to $18,000 per year, depending on the quality of the coursework taken, and is renewable up to three years for the first bachelor’s degree. Students must maintain good academic standing to renew the scholarship.
At Mount Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles, we encourage you to seek outside scholarships from community service organizations and other sources. The University uses these outside scholarships to reduce loans and work study before we reduce grant aid. It’s definitely to your advantage to seek out these scholarships! We also encourage you to use free sources of information by logging on to www.ed.gov or www.fastweb.com. These two Internet sites—as well as information available in your school and local community libraries— are free of charge.

FINANCIAL AID COUNSELING
The student financing staff works with families interested in need based financial aid as well as payment plans and low-interest parent loans. While financial aid awards are not offered before a student is admitted, our staff is available to prospective students and their families to answer questions about completing financial aid forms and alternative loan programs.
