Year-opening mass brings together Mount community

On Sept. 13, Mount Saint Mary's University celebrated the start of the 2016-2017 school year with the annual Mass of the Holy Spirit. Both campuses came together for the Mass, held at St. Vincent de Paul Church and organized by the University's Campus Ministry team.

The Mass of the Holy Spirit is a centuries-old tradition of Catholic higher education that enables the University community to gather in a festive atmosphere to seek wisdom, guidance and inspiration for the new academic year. Mount Saint Mary's Mass included songs, dances and a special ceremony that involves a lace cloth from Le Puy, France, which is where the University's founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, trace their roots.
