Undergraduate political science students received a certificate of recognition from the City of Los Angeles for the real-world research they conducted through Dr. Jackie Filla's Applied Research Methodology course.

Undergrad success: research with purpose

There is nothing theoretical about the real-world effects of undergraduate research at Mount Saint Mary's University. Learn more about two recent ways that undergraduate student-leaders at the Mount are making a difference in their communities and around the world. 

Dissecting diabetes: Every summer, the Mount’s STEM students scatter to different research sites across the country for internships. One biochemistry major spent 10 weeks at the largest diabetes research center in the world. 

Creating public policy: Students in a research methodology course sent policy recommendations to a city commission. One of their proposals is now a Los Angeles ordinance addressing human trafficking in the city.
