The 10 students who presented their research at the third annual Graduate Nursing Research Poster Symposium - hosted by the Master of Science in Nursing program at the Mount's Doheny Campus.
Showcasing research in the nursing field
If you think nursing doesn't involve research, think again.
This December, Mount Saint Mary's University presented its third annual Graduate Nursing Research Poster Symposium, at the Mount's Doheny Campus in downtown Los Angeles. The event enabled 10 students - from the University's Master of Science in Nursing program - to present results from research they've conducted over the past year.
The topics ranged from nurse engagement and self-care to analyses of treatments, protocols and therapies. Medical professionals, alums, fellow students and guests had the chance to listen to the presentations, and engage in conversation directly with the student researchers.
A panel of judges also evaluated the presentations, awarding first-, second- and third-place ribbons to the top three poster presentations.
First prize went to Flora Yuen ’17, for her research on "Pediatric Nurses' Level of Preparedness in Code Blue Events." Second prize went to Leah Korkis ’17, for "Assessing End-of-Life Care in the Acute Care Setting." And third prize was awarded to Raissa D. Camanzo, for "Barriers and Facilitators to Nurse Engagement."
