Mount Senior Takes Best Attorney Award at Mock Trial Contest

March 4, 2011 -- Mount political science major Yevgeniya (Jane) Kutepova ’11 was honored at the American Mock Trial Association this month, winning the All Region Best Attorney award at a Los Angeles competition.

Kutepova and a team of Mount students competed among 300 other college and university peers from institutions including Stanford, USC and Arizona State University. The competition was held Feb. 19 and 20 at the Stanley Mosk Courthouse in downtown Los Angeles, and at Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles.

In 2010, Kutepova won the Best Witness honor during that year's regional American Mock Trial Association competition. Also last year, she excelled at a regional moot court contest where students try to impress judges with their arguments in simulated appellate court settings.

February's honor is the latest in a string of successes for the College’s pre-law program, led by associate professor Helen Boutrous, chair of history and political science. To read more about the pre-law minor, click here.
