Mount Assistant Professor of Nursing Earns National Honor

Oct. 8, 2007 -- Margaret Avila, assistant professor of nursing at the Mount, was recently named 2007 Nurse of the Year by the National Association of Hispanic Nurses (NAHN). As part of Hispanic Heritage Month, NAHN will be presenting the award on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. on Oct. 11.

“I am deeply honored by this recognition,” said Avila, who was nominated by members of the Los Angeles Chapter of NAHN. “I owe much to my colleagues and the great staff I have worked with in every phase of my career. I continue to urge young people every day to enter this profession which has meant so much to me.”

Avila teaches women’s health, obstetrics, and gerontology for the Mount’s Associate Degree in Nursing Program. To read more, check out the National Association of Hispanic Nurses’ website.
