Andrew Ruiz is an educator and filmmaker living in Los Angeles. Since receiving his MFA from Columbia University, Andrew has taught in arts programs across the nation. He joined the faculty at Barnard College and served as Program Director for Northwestern University’s National High School Initiative. Much of his work has focused on underserved communities, using the arts to teach communication skills. He is committed to bringing filmmaking to students desperate to tell stories, who only lack the tools. Andrew’s work has screened around the globe. He is a recipient of the Caucus Grant and a current semi-finalist for the Academy Nicholl Fellowship.
