Leah Korkis earned her master’s degree at Mount Saint Mary’s University, receiving a dual specialization for the adult and geriatric populations. Leah is the Clinical Nurse Specialist of the medical-surgical service-line of Huntington Hospital in Pasadena, as well as the Nursing Practice Outcomes and Magnet Coordinator Advisor of Santa Monica, UCLA Health. As the Nursing Practice Outcomes and Magnet Coordinator, Leah led the preparation for the first Magnet Site Visit resulting in Magnet Designation in June 2016. Leah’s experience as the live-in family caregiver for her grandparents inspired her to devote her career to compassionate, patient and family centered care. Over her career Leah has been recognized three times by the DAISY Award Foundation. She has also been recognized as a Transformational Leader in Nursing by Santa Monica, UCLA Health and received the Emerging Leader Scholarship by the Association of California Nurse Leaders.
