Cultural Fluency Initiatives
International Festival & Academic Symposium 2014
Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Chalon Campus
The International Festival and the Poster Session from the Academic Symposium will be held in the Circle from 12 – 2 p.m. The Platform Presentations (20 minute and 50 minute oral presentations) will take place in classrooms in the Humanities Building from 2 – 5 p.m.
The Language and Culture Department is hosting the 2nd Annual International Language and Culture Festival. The festival brings together the Mount community to celebrate the great cultural diversity found on our two campuses. On this day, various multicultural clubs come together to represent the distinct cultures at Mount Saint Mary's through a day filled with food, music and dance. The International Language and Culture Festival aims to bring cultural awareness and cultural fluency to the university so as to become part of the global community.
An Academic Symposium is a place where academics have the opportunity to present and discuss their research and/or creative work. The Mount’s esteemed faculty, staff, and students will present published or unpublished research, clinical case presentations, or scholarly/creative innovation in teaching, learning or evaluation within a discipline.
We encourage faculty and staff members who have recently completed a dissertation and faculty who have recently been on sabbatical to present their work. Faculty/Staff must check that their department chairperson or supervisor has signed off on their application.
Students are welcome to present research findings or course projects, and must have a faculty sponsor who will approve their work.
