We understand that applying for financial aid can be intimidating. Don't worry. Our staff is dedicated to assist you throughout the entire process. A Financial Aid advisor will help you with every step of your financial aid strategy. And as with all things in life, planning is critical. Applying for and receiving financial aid requires advance work on your part; but, here is a step-by-step process to ensure your financial aid process is smooth.
Step 1: FAFSA
You may apply for financial aid at the same time you apply for admission to the Fully Online program at Mount Saint Mary's University. Apply for financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after January 1.
- Create a FSA ID at fsaid.ed.gov.
- Complete the FAFSA application. Use MSMU's School Code: 001243 so that we may receive your information electronically.
Step 2: Financial Aid Request Form
All MSMU Online applicants must complete an Aid Request Form. Financial Aid will not be awarded until this form is submitted.
Step 3: Cal Grant
If you are a California Resident, you may apply for a Cal Grant by submitting a Cal Grant GPA Verification Form. The Cal Grant application deadline is March 2nd. For more information, please call the California Student Aid Commission at (888) CA-Grant or visit their website at www.csac.ca.gov.
Step 4: Explore Scholarships and Grants
Other options to help cover your costs for the Fully Online program are scholarships and grants. These are "free" funds that do not need to be repaid.
Here are some scholarship websites for you to explore:
NOTE: Beware of companies that guarantee or promise scholarships. Do not send money to companies that make generous promises, charge you money to receive aid, try to get you to send money by claiming you are a finalist in a scholarship contest or request your credit card or bank account number to hold a scholarship for you.
