Political science professor now leads Los Angeles' Commission on the Status of Women

Jackie Filla, PhD, assistant professor of political science, is now the president of the Los Angeles Commission on the Status of Women (LACSW). The commission was relaunched by Mayor Eric Garcetti to advance gender equity in Los Angeles.

Julius Reder Carlson, PhD, assistant professor of music, participated in a roundtable discussion with Women in Music Festival speakers that aired March 22 on KPFK Pacifica Radio’s Global Village program. Participants in the discussion included Shana L. Redmond of UCLA, Assal Habibi of USC, and Kristi Brown-Montesano of Colburn School. Carlson spearheaded the inaugural Women in Music Festival at Mount Saint Mary’s, which was held March 25 on the Doheny Campus.

Stephen Inrig, PhD, associate professor and director of the Healthcare Administration graduate program, and co-author Michael Merson presented their book “The Aids Pandemic: Searching for a Global Response” at the World Health Summit in Berlin, Germany, on March 14.
