This month, Mount Saint Mary's University welcomes Kari Bolen, EdD, to serve as the University's new director for diversity and inclusion. She comes to the Mount from Pepperdine University, where she held the positions of director of intercultural affairs and adjunct faculty in the business administration division.
Bolen graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, with a bachelor’s of science degree in psychology. She received her master’s degree in education and her doctorate in higher education administration from the University of Southern California.
Bolen's position is part of Mount Saint Mary's Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, led by Bernadette Robert, associate vice president for diversity and inclusion at the University.
In November, the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion will host several on-campus events, including a screening and discussion of the film, 13th. The Office will also present a series of "teach-in" events on topics of social justice, led by expert faculty.
Going forward, Bolen will also host open forums that will help inform the establishment of expanded multicultural centers on campus, built on the values of community, empowerment, education, activism, diversity, inclusion, equity and social justice.
