Melissa Clark

Melissa Clark, Bear Witness

"One minute everything was normal and then a door opened and it was never the same."

Melissa Clark's Bear Witness, just released by Spark Press, is the latest work of the new instructor of young adult literature in the MFA Creative Writing program. Melissa will teach Writing for Teens and Tweens, a one-unit class, August 22/23. Rigoberto González, author of Butterfly Boy and The Mariposa, wrote: "By presenting Paige's narrative in reverse chronological order, Clark unsettles the normal and the ordinary, to reveal the cracks in such notions as safety, refuge and innocence. A harrowing, resonant portrait of girlhood trauma."
