Sylvia Bagley

Education Professor Participates in Conference and Publishes Chapter

On March 24, Dr. Sylvia Bagley attended the 53rd annual Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) Conference in Charleston, South Carolina, where she participated in a panel discussion of community college models around the world. She presented her original research on Folk High School - a unique form of post-secondary, non-formal education which originated in Denmark in the mid-19th century, and has since spread across the globe. Dr. Bagley co-authored a chapter entitled Community-Based Folk High Schools in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark , which was recently published in the edited anthology Community College Models: Globalization and Higher Education Reform (Springer Press, 2009).
