The Creative Writing program has launched two new certificate programs designed for students seeking to broaden their knowledge in the following two areas: Editing & Publishing and Latin American and LatinX Creative Studies. Both certificate programs involve in-depth analysis of their respective areas. Both certificate programs require 15-units of coursework for completion, and can be pursued in-person or online. We invite you to learn more about each certificate program.
Students wishing to continue their studies are eligible to have up to 9 units of the certificate program applied towards the requirements of the MFA in Creative Writing at Mount Saint Mary’s University.
Students already enrolled in the MFA program can pursue both the MFA Program and a Certificate, making a total of 42 credits minimum. Students can integrate up to 9 certificates' credits in the MFA Program, and take certificates' credits as needed to complete the required 42 credits. Most students will probably take an extra semester of credit, sometimes two, in order to get the combined degree/certificate.
Please note: not all states are authorized for students to enroll in our fully-online programs. Please visit our State Authorization page to determine if you are eligible to pursue our online modality in your state of residency.
