Beatriz Valls uses her social scientific eye to approach the power of dialogue as an art tool. and works on context and emplacement, community and site-specificity to construct a positive impact through art. Dig A Hole, 2011, is an unplanned performance in an under-construction environment where a swimming pool was being built. In a freezing and rainy day in Madrid I appear in a male-dominated working environment where I got the employees to help me dig a useless, deep hole for two hours. Opening the heavy door serves as a metaphor for a woman's effort to integrate into a man's world.
