Educational Excellence in Action

The Center for the Advancement of Women

When women advance, their families and peers do, too. More opportunities are created and more is accomplished. Women must have the opportunity to contribute their talents at every level of society. And when they do, everyone benefits.

Building on our legacy as a women’s university, the Center for the Advancement of Women is working with our students and faculty and a diverse coalition of partners, on a local and national scale, to address gender equity issues and build a better world.

Global Initiatives

We believe that in order to change the world, you must see it – and understand it – first.

Global Initiatives at Mount Saint Mary’s provide opportunities for students to broaden their global perspectives through domestic and international study away opportunities, a robust visiting scholars program, distinctive student and faculty research projects, international internships, and world-wide service learning.

This campaign will allow our students to become culturally fluent, learn the value of cultural diversity, and bring a global perspective to their role in today’s world. By 2025, 50 percent of our undergraduate students will have the opportunity to study away.

The Institute houses the archived academic and historical records of our Sisters, sponsors faculty and student research, provides educational programming to our students, parents, alums and the broader community, and convenes pilgrimages to Le Puy, and other important historic religious sites.

The Mount has a long history of educating nurses in Los Angeles. Today’s nursing students gain knowledge of hospital best practices, patient diagnosis, and administration of care in simulation (SIM) labs, equipped with hospital grade instruments, located on both campuses. Real-time experience in the SIM labs are a critical component in competitive nursing programs. This campaign will provide resources for increased faculty and student research and improved technology in our laboratories.
