Graduate Student Requirements
Mount Saint Mary's University offers 10 graduate degree programs and accepts both men and women. The following information will help guide you through the application process. Please make sure to contact the Graduate Admission Office if you have any questions or concerns.
Application Deadlines for International Students
All international students are encouraged to submit and complete their applications by the priority application deadlines below. Adhering to these priority deadlines will allow for enough time to process your application and international paperwork, and for you to receive your I-20 and schedule your visa interview.
|Priority Submission Date||MAR 1||NOV 1||FEB 1|
Additional Application Requirements for International Students
In addition to the application requirements for your program, all international students must also submit the following documents:
1. Transcript Evaluation
All international students must submit original transcripts from his or her foreign university and a transcript evaluation from a NACES credential evaluation member. Please Visit NACES.org for a list of accredited evaluation agencies.
Original transcripts must be sent directly from the foreign institution or included as part of your official transcript evaluation to be considered official. Please check with your credential evaluator to determine if original transcripts are included with your transcript evaluation.
2. English Language Exam
All classroom instruction at Mount Saint Mary’s University is conducted in English. Therefore, international students must possess a minimum proficiency in order to succeed at the Mount. International students must submit one of the following tests with corresponding minimum scores in order to be considered for admission.
|Langue Exam||Total Minimum Score|
The exam must have been taken within the last two (2) years from the date you submit your application. Exam scores more than two years old will not be accepted.
Applicants who have obtained a bachelor’s or master’s degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction will be exempt from having to take and submit a language exam. If you believe you are exempt, please make sure to communicate this to Graduate Admission Office.
3. International Student Data (ISD) Form and Proof of Funds (POF)
All international students are required to submit an International Student Data (ISD) form and a Financial Affidavit (i.e. Proof of Funds), demonstrating the student is financially capable to fund his or her tuition costs and living expenses for the first year. The ISD form must be submitted in order to process and issue an I-20.
We strongly recommend international students submit their ISD form and Proof of Funds at the time of application, instead of waiting to receive an admission decision. This ensures the applicant receives his or her I-20 in a timely manner. Applicants may submit their ISD form and Proof of Funds via email to email@example.com.
