WASC Senior College and University Commission

Mount Saint Mary’s University hosted its most recent WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC) accreditation visit on September 25-27, 2013. The WASC Senior College and University Commission is a regional accrediting body responsible for the evaluation of the quality and effectiveness of colleges and universities offering the baccalaureate degree and above in California, Hawaii, Guam, and the Pacific Basin. Each institutional member of WSCUC is required to have its accreditation reaffirmed at least every ten years.

As a result of the 2013 accreditation visit, the Commission acted to:

  1. Reaffirm Mount Saint Mary’s University’s accreditation for a period of ten years.
  2. Schedule the next comprehensive review, with the Offsite Review to take place in spring 2023 and the Accreditation Visit in fall 2023.
  3. Schedule a Mid-Cycle Review in spring 2018.
  4. Request an Interim Report in fall 2018 on the following issues: 1) assessment training, 2) space planning, 3) the Portmont project, and 4) diversity. The Commission requested that the report also provide an update on the revision of the General Studies curriculum and implementation of the strategic plan, including an update on the five centers/institutes.
