Liu Hai Ping
Liu Hai Ping is Professor of American Literature, Nanjing University. He has served as Dean of the Nanjing University School of Foreign Studies and chair of its top-ranked English Department. Specializing in Eugene O’Neill and Pearl S. Buck, he has published widely in China, the United States, Japan, and Britain including such works as Chinese-American Cultural Dialogue through Drama—Eugene O'Neill and China. He has been an active scholar with the Harvard-Yenching Institute in three visiting scholar positions and has organized seven consecutive biennial conferences for its alumni in East Asia. The proceedings of these symposia cover a wide range of subjects in humanities and social sciences. Professor Liu’s academic expertise lies in American literature, American theater, and China-US cultural relationships. He is president of the China Association for the Study of American Literature and consults in his areas of expertise, including with PBS.
