Finding Books

  • The best way to find books in the MSMU Library is to search the Library Catalog.

The library catalog contains records for print books and journals, as well as records for electronic books and journals. If you know exactly what you want, you may search by title, author, call number, or ISBN. Or you may prefer an exploratory search using subject headings or key words.

The record for a book or journal will give you the basic information needed to find the item. You can see where the book is located, the call number, which tells you the shelf it is on, and if the book is available. Records for electronic resources will link you to the main search page of the book or journal.

A typical record for a print book looks like this:

If the MSMU Libraries do not own the book you want, you may request the book from one of our Link+ partner libraries. Just click the blue button that reads “SEARCH Link+.”

You will need a current MSMU Library Card to check out books and to request books on Link+.
