We can go confidently into the future and accept the change that growth demands
only if we have firm roots in the past, in a living tradition. —Leonard Foley, OFM
The MSMU Archives collects, preserves and provides access to materials of historical, research and administrative interest. The University Archives are located on the Chalon Campus, 12001 Chalon Road, Los Angeles, CA, 90049. Housed in the Charles Willard Coe Memorial Library, the archives are on the first (ground) floor in the Frank H. Spearman Room.
Policies, finding aids and other information can be found on the MSMU Portal.
The MSMU Archives holds selected records from administrative, academic, social and cultural sources at the Chalon and Doheny campuses. Record series date from the foundation of the college in 1925 to the present. In addition to textual records, archival series include photographs, flyers, clippings, scrapbooks, yearbooks, programs and catalogues. Along with this primary source material we have various histories of the college and its founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.
The Archives preserve the official memory of the University, consisting of documents that are deemed to be of enduring value: records that contain evidence of and information about the mission, history, organization and operations of Mount Saint Mary’s University.
