    Reference assistance is generally available in the Coe Library from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Friday. It is available in the McCarthy Library Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., as well as 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. the Sundays of Weekend College.

    Appointments for assistance at other times can be made by contacting a Reference Librarian and arranging a mutually acceptable time. E-mail and telephone assistance are also available.


    Print materials for reserve are housed at the Circulation Desks in the two libraries. Reserve materials have a loan period of from 2 hours to one week, determined by the instructor. Overdue Reserve materials are charged at a rate of $2/hour.

    Print reserve requests on the Chalon Campus should be submitted to Alice Lee. Print reserve requests on the Doheny Campus should be submitted to Lodean Beatty. Processing time is 48 hours.

    Borrowing MSMU Materials

    Mount Saint Mary's University Libraries has approximately 180,000 circulating print volumes available. Patrons also have access to 380,000 e-books and 39,000 e-journals through over 200 databases. Current students, faculty, and staff may access these materials from off campus with a valid library barcode. Please consult our Research Databases for up-to-date listings of resources offered.

    Materials from Other Libraries

    Through Link+, library patrons can borrow materials for up to 6 weeks from the collections of approximately 75 libraries in California and Nevada. Overdue Link+ materials are charged at a rate of $1/day and $115 for lost or damaged materials. Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery requests for materials not available in our libraries or through Link+ are handled by Reference Librarians. Interlibrary Loan requests are typically available within 2 weeks. Document Delivery articles are typically available within 1 week.

    Technology in the Library

    Libraries' computers are intended for Reference and Research use but may also be used for word-processing, e-mail, and other purposes.  Additional computers are available in the Chalon Campus Instructional Media & Technology Center and OIT administered Computer Labs. Media materials are housed in the Instructional Media & Technology Center located on the 2nd floor of the Coe Library.
