Empower and Educate the Whole Student


Our goal in Academic Advisement is to assist students in choosing a major and/or minor, comprehend academic policies and procedures, and understand course requirements leading to a successful completion of an undergraduate degree at Mount Saint Mary’s University, Los Angeles.

It is our hope that each student advised by Academic Advisement is empowered to achieve their academic goals which include exploring major/minor options, understanding the pathways for personal success and degree requirements needed for graduation. To that end, successful students of Academic Advisement will have the following characteristics as outlined in the table below.

Learning Goal

The goal of Academic Advisement is to assist students in choosing a major and/or minor, comprehend academic policies and procedures, and understand course requirements leading to successful completion of an undergraduate degree at Mount Saint Mary’s University.

Learning Outcome 1.1

Students will develop an educational plan for successfully achieving their goals and select courses each semester to progress toward fulfilling that educational plan.
 

Learning Outcome 1.2

Students will identify the resources and services on campus to assist them in achieving their academic, personal, and career goals.
 

Learning Outcome 1.3

The student will identify policies, procedures and requirements for completing the academic program.
