Administrative Experience

President, Mount Saint Mary’s University, Los Angeles, CA, July 2011-present
Responsible for all administration of the College. Serves as a member of the Board of Trustees.

Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs and Dean of the College, Salem College, Winston-Salem, NC, July 2005 - May 2011
Served as chief academic and student affairs officer and member of President’s Executive Team. Oversaw Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Fleer Center for Adult Education, College Libraries, Athletics, Registrar and Director of Institutional Research, Information Technology, Cultural Events, and Chaplain’s Office. Served as accreditation liaison to the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges.

Acting Dean of the College, Salem College, November 2003 – March 2004
Served as chief academic officer assuming all responsibilities of the Dean of the College including administrative oversight of Academic Affairs and Student Affairs.

Associate Dean of the College, Salem College, 1998 - 2005
Directed innovative curricular programs and faculty development initiatives; oversaw academic enhancement and support programs; served as academic liaison with Student Affairs; worked to establish and maintain campus-wide enrollment management plan; deputized for Dean of the College in her absence.

Director of Faculty Development, Ripon College, Ripon, Wisconsin, 1987 - 1988
Led review and implementation of the campus Faculty Development Plan; coordinated faculty development opportunities on and off campus; directed new faculty orientation and developed a faculty mentoring program.

Recent Academic Initiatives
Led faculty in the development of the College’s academic vision calling for increased focus on interdisciplinary and innovative teaching and learning; coordinated the review and subsequent revision of College's general education program; worked with the director of the honors program to enhance programming for honors students, including the establishment of a campus residential house for honors students; established yearly Celebration of Academic Excellence featuring a campus-wide symposium for graduating seniors; established Center for Teaching Innovation and Excellence; established additional modes of program delivery to include hybrid courses, off-site programs and the College’s first on-line graduate program to begin in summer 2011.

Diversity initiatives
Initiated and oversaw 2008-2009 campus climate assessment process through Visions, Inc., a multicultural training organization; implemented ongoing multicultural training for faculty, staff and students; increased diversity of faculty from12 percent minority faculty in 2008-09 to 16 percent in 2010-2011; coordinate and chair the Committee on Community, a college committee comprised of faculty, staff and students to enhance communication and appreciation for difference in the Salem College community

Assessment Initiatives
Designed, implemented and oversee new assessment structure for academic and student affairs focusing on identified student learning outcomes; provide training in assessment for the College community and the Board of Trustees; serve as liaison to the Commission on the Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and held primary responsibility for the preparation of all materials for the College's 2010 reaccreditation process through the Commission; serve as a reviewer and a member of the Board of Trustees for SACS.

Funding Initiatives
Served as Salem College Project Manager for William and Flora Hewlett Foundation grant to support joint diversity program for Salem College, Wake Forest University and Winston-Salem State University (funded); assisted in presentation of $100,000 grant proposal to Cannon Foundation to renovate science lecture room (funded); assisted in development of $250,000 grant from BB&T to support a student leadership program (funded); assisted in development of $80,000 grant proposal to support academic program in historic preservation (pending); assisted in development and presentation of $30,000 grant proposal with ESR (Experiment in Self- Reliance), the YWCA and Salem College to support a financial literacy program for girls and women (pending); assisted in the development of $120,000 grant proposal to equip a classroom for the newly approved BS and BA in exercise science (pending).
