The Mount Celebrates Women's History Month
The Doheny Student Affairs Women's Coalition, comprised of the Associated Student Body, Campus Ministry, Career Planning, Counseling and Psychological Services, Experiential Learning, Student Activities, and Women's Leadership, is sponsoring several events in March in honor of Women's History Month.
On the Doheny Campus:
March 14-31 -- Stop by the Student Activities Office to drop off pieces of fabric to be sewn together in a quilt that will represent Women's History Month and be displayed on both campuses.
March 15, 1-2 p.m. -- Come to the Wigwam for an informal gathering with CSJ sisters to talk about the changes that have taken place at the Mount over the years.
March 16, 10:20-11:20 a.m. -- Join a group of professionally diverse women in the Lecture Hall to talk about opportunities in business and government.
March 16, 11:20-11:30 a.m. -- A bread blessing for St. Joseph's Day will be held at Building 4 near the Statue of St. Joseph. Bread is a symbol of unity and care for the poor. This day honors the sisters and their work for unity, reconciliation, and justice.
March 16, 7-10 p.m. -- The Women's History Month Film Festival will feature films about notable women in history. The festival presents Salma Hayek in "Frida" in the Wigwam.
March 17, 6:30-8 p.m. -- Talk with a panel of lawyers about domestic violence and how to recognize signs of abuse. Refreshments will be served in the Donohue Center.
March 17, 8-9 p.m. -- Students and staff come together for the annual Take Back the Night walk. The evening begins with a blessing, songs, and shared personal stories. The walk will wind through the neighborhood.
March 21, 7-10 p.m. -- The Women's History Month Film Festival presents Julia Roberts in "Mona Lisa Smile" in the Wigwam.
On the Chalon Campus, Women's Leadership and the Associate Student Body present:
March 16, 7-10 p.m. -- The Women's History Month Film Festival presents Julia Roberts in "Mona Lisa Smile." The film will be shown in the Brady Hall first floor lounge.
March 23, 7-10 p.m. -- The Women's History Month Film Festival presents Salma Hayek in "Frida" in the Brady Hall first floor lounge.
All month -- Participate in the Clothesline Project by making a T-shirt recognizing violence against women in the Chalon Circle.
All month -- Honor an amazing woman with a photo and short description of what makes her special in the Chalon Circle.
