State Agency Boosts Funding for Student Ambassadors
Aug. 1, 2007 -- State Treasurer Bill Lockyer announced in July that the California Educational Facilities Authority (CEFA) has awarded $240,000 to Mount St. Mary's for its Student Ambassador program, which promotes college attendance to low-income students. Lockyer's CEFA staff, including the authority's executive director, visited the Doheny Campus July 27 to formally present a check.
"Mount St. Mary's has made an important commitment to the communities it serves," said Lockyer, who chairs CEFA. "By providing college bound students the skills they need to succeed and encouraging high school students to finish strong and pursue higher education, the program makes an investment in California 's disadvantaged students and gives them the extra support they need to succeed in college and in life."
