MSMU Names Office Depot Executive and Alumna as '06 Graduation Speaker
Jan. 18, 2006 -- Mount Saint Mary’s University (MSMU) announces that its 2006 graduation speaker will be Monica Luechtefeld, executive vice president of Business Development and Information Technology for Office Depot. Luechtefeld is a 1971 graduate of MSMU, and is a trustee of the College.
All of the College’s graduates will enjoy one combined ceremony at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, Calif, on May 15. The ceremony begins at 3 p.m.
Luechtefeld earned her bachelor’s degree in biology from MSMU. In 2004, the College honored her with its Outstanding Alumna Award for Professional Achievement.
In her role at Office Depot headquarters in Delray Beach, Fla., Luechtefeld is responsible for mergers and acquisitions as well as global information technology applications, architecture, and infrastructures for the office supply giant.
She has been with Office Depot for more than 11 years and has more than 25 years of experience in the office products industry. Prior to her appointment as executive vice president of Business Development and IT, Luechtefeld was executive vice president of Strategy and Development and executive vice president of Global E-Commerce for Office Depot. At the time, she was responsible for driving Office Depot's leadership in electronic commerce. In 2004, Office Depot posted worldwide E-Commerce sales of $3.1 billion.
