MSMU Completes New Craftsman-Style Student Dorms
Oct. 3, 2007 -- Mount Saint Mary’s University (MSMU) celebrates the opening of a newly-constructed Craftsman-style student dorm on its historic downtown Los Angeles Doheny Campus. A dedication ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. on Oct. 4 at No. 18 Chester Place, 90007.
The hall is funded by the Bill Hannon Foundation and provides more than 50 beds for students. The building features architectural details relating to the historic nature of the Doheny Campus and will help create a distinct "student quad" on the south side of the campus.
The residence hall is the first of several new and refurbished buildings that are funded by the College's Invest in the Mount campaign and will be dedicated during the 2007-08 academic year. "The transforming effect of our campaign is highly visible on both campuses," said President Jacqueline Powers Doud. "Construction of Hannon Residence Hall on the Doheny Campus was completed in time to welcome its first students for the new fall semester."
MSMU kicked off a $45 million comprehensive campaign in January 2005. As of June 30, 2007, the College had raised more than $41 million toward the campaign goal.
