Mount to Host Lecture, Film, Silk-screen Workshop in Honor of Corita Kent
June 21,2011 -- Mount Saint Mary’s University presents a lecture, short film and silk- screening workshop honoring the art and life of Corita Kent on July 9 on the Chalon Campus. The events complement the ongoing Women & Spirit: Catholic Sisters in America exhibit at the College.
Kent, also known as Sister Mary Corita, is best known for producing political art in the 1960s and '70s. A lecture and short film will be presented by Sasha Carrera, director of the Corita Art Center, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in the College's William H. Hannon Theater, 12001 Chalon Road in Los Angeles.
Mariana Ruiz '11 will present the silk-screening workshop for the first 15 people to register. The workshop will be held at 1 p.m. at the College's Fine Arts Building. The lecture is $5.
