Mount Students Hosting Relief Concert for New Orleans
Nov. 4, 2005 -- Students at Mount Saint Mary’s University (MSMU), Los Angeles, are hosting a Hurricane Katrina relief concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, in the Doheny Campus Lecture Hall, 10 Chester Place, 90007.
The Black Student Union, African-American Council of Women, and Latinas Unidas organizations are putting on the concert, which features New Orleans jazz bands, the Lala Second Line Dancers from New Orleans, and various other performers. Admission is $5, but any donation for victims of Katrina is welcome.
All proceeds will go to Catholic sisters in New Orleans to distribute to the poorest and neediest residents trying to reestablish themselves in that city. At the concert, students will be selling homemade pralines, cookbooks, and Katrina relief bracelets.
