2015 National Student Advertising Competition to take place at Mount Saint Mary’s University

Los Angeles, Feb. 19, 2015 - The most prominent advertising competition in U.S. higher education will take place in Los Angeles next year.

The American Advertising Federation has selected Mount Saint Mary's University to host the western regionals of the 2015 National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC). The competition is set for April 10, 2015, at Mount Saint Mary's Doheny Campus in downtown Los Angeles.

"We've competed in this event the past six years, and we're very excited to have the opportunity to host the NSAC for the first time," says Keith Gosselin, marketing professor and faculty advisor of the Mount's ADthenians advertising team. "This is an invaluable learning experience for our students, and we're proud to welcome many other talented students, faculty and advertising industry executives to our campus next year."

The NSAC format revolves around a corporate sponsor that provides a real-world case study for all competing schools, outlining the history of its product and detailing its current advertising situation.

This year's sponsor is Pizza Hut, and teams are already exploring the company's current advertising strategies, its products and its marketplace competition. The Mount's ADthenians team is already conducting background research in preparation for developing a new advertising campaign for Pizza Hut, which the students will officially pitch at the 2015 NSAC regional competition.

"This is eight months of research, development, and ultimately creating a full-range, workable advertising campaign," Gosselin says. "And then in April, our students will deliver a multi-media presentation in front of their peers, as well as judges who are experts in the advertising industry."

Mount Saint Mary's competed in the NSAC's Region 15 last year, which was won by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). Among the schools expected to compete in the 2015 NSAC at Mount Saint Mary's are: UNLV; University of California, Los Angeles; University of Southern California; Chapman University, California State University, Fullerton; UC San Diego; UC Irvine; and more.
