- The new HealthCare Reform regulation requires that all potential insured members are notified of the availability of the health insurance plan Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) document. The purpose of the document is to make it easier for you to read and understand the insurance benefits made available to you in a simplified manner that is standard across all insurance companies. You may obtain a copy of your SBC document either by going to the student insurance website (listed below), by contacting Wells Fargo directly at 1-800-853-5899 or by clicking on the link below.
Health Insurance Waivers
Students who have an existing health and accident insurance plan that is comparable in coverage to the Mount’s Student Health Insurance coverage may request a waiver to not participate in the Mount’s insurance plan. A waiver request must be submitted every semester. (This waiver request must be completed no later than the published Financial Clearance Deadline set for each term).
The automatic billing will be removed from the Statement of Account for all approved waivers. The insurance waiver must be renewed every semester of the academic year. If the waiver request is denied, an appeal to review the waiver can be made. Waiver Appeals are reviewed by Business Office Associates who will respond to the appeal within 10 business days.
Graduate Nursing Students are eligible for the Student Health Insurance, but will not be automatically enrolled. Graduate Nursing Students wishing to enroll may do so by contacting the Business Office and requesting to be enrolled.
International Students are required by law to carry a minimum of $100,000 in Health and Accident Insurance. Proof of adequate insurance must be provided prior to admission.
Dental insurance is optional. Students wishing to enroll in dental insurance can do so by visiting the Wells Fargo website through the link below.
Mount Saint Mary’s University does not determine student Health and Accident Insurance Premiums. Insurance premiums are based on prevailing insurance market conditions/rates.
