The new HealthCare Reform regulation requires that all potential insured members are notified of the availability of the health insurance plan Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC) document. The purpose of the document is to make it easier for you to read and understand the insurance benefits made available to you in a simplified manner that is standard across all insurance companies. You may obtain a copy of your SBC document either by clicking on the below link: https://www.aetnastudenthealth.com/en/school/686160/index.html

Health Insurance Waivers

Students who have an existing health and accident insurance plan that is comparable in coverage to the Mount’s Student Health Insurance coverage may request a waiver to not participate in the Mount’s insurance plan. A waiver request must be submitted every semester. (This waiver request must be completed no later than the published deadline date set for each term).

The automatic billing will be removed from the Statement of Account for all approved waivers within ten (10) business days. The insurance waiver must be renewed every semester of the academic year. If the waiver request is denied, this means your insurance is not active. A student has an opportunity to reactivate the plan and resubmit the waiver by the published deadline date.

Graduate Nursing Students are eligible for the Student Health Insurance, but will not be automatically enrolled. Graduate Nursing Students wishing to enroll may do so by contacting the Business Office and requesting to be enrolled by emailing businessoffice@msmu.edu.

International Students are required by law to carry a minimum of $100,000 in Health and Accident Insurance (J-1 only). Proof of adequate insurance must be provided prior to admission.

(c)  All Other International Students – will have to carry the MSMU mandatory plan.  If a student remits a health insurance waiver citing their insurance plan they hold is comparable to that of MSMU, then this remittance will be forwarded to JCB for “expert” analysis and review and MSMU (BO) will be advised whether the remittance is approved or denied, and the student advised accordingly.
