The Center for Cultural Fluency was created to provide classroom resources and professional development opportunities for Mount Saint Mary’s University faculty and students, as well as Los Angeles teachers about issues of cultural diversity and social justice. In particular, our aim is to enable teachers to become culturally fluent and to develop cultural fluency in their students.
Located in Los Angeles on the Doheny campus of Mount Saint Mary’s University, the center serves local K-12 educators in both public and private schools. Through the internet, we are now able to offer resources to educators and students throughout the rest of California and the nation.
The Center for Cultural Fluency has developed a collection of essential, compelling resources for educators everywhere who wish to add multicultural perspectives to their curriculum. This website features the new searchable online database.
The newest initiative of the Center for Cultural Fluency is the Critical Teaching in Action Conference – a day dedicated to bringing educators and students together to build community and share resources for social justice teaching. More information about the CTIA conference can be found here.
